The Collector is a unique actor led programme which focuses on diversity and museum collections. The programme allows children to understand why museums collect objects, the diversity of objects collected in terms of origin, materials and usage and how museum objects are protected.
The Collector has some new objects which they need the children to identify and to decide, by exploring the museum collection, where they should be placed. The programme finishes with different ceremonies from around the world.
The session lasts for 90 minutes. Session times 10.30 - 12.00 or 1.00 - 2.30
ADDITIONAL IN-SCHOOL FOLLOW UP SESSION
Children who have met the Collector bring in to school their own treasured objects. These are then recorded by the Collector along with the personal reasons why the objects are unique to the children. This will be part of a constantly growing virtual museum of treasured objects from school children in the Stroud Valley.
Maximum number of children: 40
Cost per session: £ 75.00 (plus £15.00 one off booking fee)
All schools participating in this programme receive a free resource pack with further information and ideas for follow up work.
The Museum In The Park can offer additional workshops for schools who bring a whole year group. For further details of these contact:
