Spaniel In The Works actors have a wealth of experience of museum theatre and drama performances at venues including the Science Museum, Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, Wallace Collection and Apsley House.
For Gloucestershire teachers and other organisations, we have a wide ranging programme of educational theatre events at the Museum in the Park in Stroud.
These performances are available as part of a museum visit or can visit your school.
We can also create performances expressly to suit your needs from solo gallery characters to shows on given themes.
Performances are designed to be for the widest audience possible and are suitable for general public and school groups.

Housed in a Grade II 17th century wool merchant's mansion in Stratford Park in Stroud, the Museum in the Park is home to a collection of objects and displays celebrating the rich history and heritage of the Stroud District.
The museums education department have developed a wide and varied curriculum-centred programme of events which focus on the museums collection and the history of the Stroud area.
Many of these events were developed with Spaniel In The Works and there is now a unique programme of drama based events suitable for schools.
Some performances and workshops are now available to schools as an outreach programme which we can bring to your school.

Created as part of the award winning River Severn Project for Gloucestershire Archives, Fish, Fykes and Ferries is a multicharacter performance with 5 different characters who each have a different connection with the river.

Created in 2007 to commemorate the abolition of the slave trade, Inhuman Traffic is a four person performance looking at the historical and modern perspectives of slavery.
Four characters each tell their own stories relating to the inhuman treatment of slaves. These characters are:

Despite only living to the age of 25, Aubrey Beardsley was one of the most notorious artists of the late 19th century.
His illustrations and erotic drawings for works such as Oscar Wilde's Salome and the infamous Yellow Book shocked Victorian sensibilities.
This 30 minute performance looks at Beardsley's short life, his work and his friendship with Oscar Wilde which both established and almost destroyed his career.
Oscar & Aubrey was first performed at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Developed from a shorter performance for the Natural History Museum, this 45 minute solo performance looks at the life and work of Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus and his creation of a binomial system of plant classification.
From his childhood fascination with plants and animals to his journeys through Sweden and his flora and fauna collecting, this performance uses the poetry of his own language to reveal his character and the complexities of the natural world.

First performed at Apsley House, as part of Waterloo Weekend, A Near Run Thing is a unique two man retelling of the battle.
During the one hour performance the two actors bring to life the characters and events of the battle from the Duke of Wellington and Napoleon to ordinary British, French and Prussian soldiers.
The performance explores the carnage and devastation as well as the heroics and excitement of one of the most famous battles in history.

First performed at the Museum of London this 45 minute solo performance looks at the infamous life of thief and jail-breaker
Jack Sheppard.
Notorious as the only man to escape from
Newgate Jail three times, traditional songs
are incorporated to reveal his life, from his
early small thefts to his battle with Jonathan Wilde, the thief-taker and his tragic death on the gallows as a national hero.
This performance is available to schools and other venues.
Tommy Atkins and the Canary Girl is a one hour performance offering an emotional look at a family's life during the First World War.
Based on archive records, this dramatic, emotional, sometimes funny performance focuses on the lives of the workers at the Gloucester munitions factory and local soldiers during the First World War.
The performance looks at the hardships endured by soldiers in the trenches and the largely untold story of the changes to the lives of the women back home "in blighty".
