Training Events

Forced Marriage and "Honour" Violence

Speak No More

We are currently developing a half day programme looking at the issues of Forced Marriage and "Honour" Violence. Speak No More will include a 45 minute performance focussing on the complex issues surrounding Forced Marriage followed by interactive workshops. The performance will premiere at the end of November at a major conference in Leicester and will be available to organisations after this date. For further details please contact us

Family Portrait: Paul's Story

Paul's Story, our unique one day programme focussing on young people who sexually abuse has been performed at a number of venues throughout the U.K. this year and has been used by a number of organisations for their own staff. For more information click here

Domestic Violence

Listen To Me

This powerful 45 minute performance looks at how domestic violence can in some cases lead to child murder. Developed in conjunction with Hull Family Justice Council the performance is available to other organisations throughout the uk. For more information click here

Safe As Houses

This 60 minute performance looks at the effects of witnessing domestic violence on a young person and has been performed for a range of organisations including LSCBs and Relate. For more information click here

Asking For It

Developed in conjunction with Sheaf Domestic Violence Project in Sheffield, Asking For It is a 45 minute performance looking at the difficult issue of male victims of domestic violence. The performance is available to other organisations throughout the U.K. For further information please contact us

Bullying

From The Edge

This dramatic 45 minute performance focusses on a range of issues surrounding bullying including racist and homophobic bullying. Developed in conjunction with Bromley LSCB the performance is available to other organisations throughout the U.K.. For more information please contact us

Neglected Children

Waiting To Be Saved

This emotional 30 minute performance is based on the testimonies of young people who were neglected children. Developed in conjunction with Crewe LSCB the performance may be available to other organisations later in the year. For more information please contact us

Organisation specific training events

We have developed a number of training events specifically tailored to the needs of particular organisations:

Rhondda Cynon Taff

Leaving Care - This programme looked at the difficulties in working with young people who are facing leaving care and the complexities of the issues surrounding finding them new placements.

Ealing Borough Council

Inter - agency communication - This programme looks at the requirements for agencies involved in child protection to communicate in order to correctly recognise the full situation for a family in crisis.

These programmes are not available to other organisations because they are site specific but we can develop similar events for organisations who have concerns in these areas.

 

Theatre In Museums

Spaniel in the Works have a wide programme of performance and characters for various museums including:

Gloucester Archives

Peter Drinkwater the Apothecary will be appearing at various libraries for Gloucester Archives throughout August 2008

Developed in conjunction with Gloucester Archives and Whaddon Family centre, our farmer character will be appearing at Whaddon later in September 2008

Museum In The Park, Stroud

We have been working very closely with the education officer at the Museum In The Park and now have a wide a varied programme of educational programmes covering a wide range of subjects. These include:

Our new programme The Collector focussing on diversity in museums, how museums work and the importance of museum collections.

The Soldier and The Snaggles our storytelling performance for younger children.

Snapshots of Victorian Life looking at the lives of Victorians in Stroud.

Bernard and Beatrices (nearly) Complete Guide To Modern Art (in 45 minutes) which looks at the history of modern art from Duchamps urinal to Damien's cow

Fantastic Plastic a 45 minute game show presentation looking at the history of plastics

Dark Tales of Gloucestershire a lively one hour performance retelling Gloucestershire folk tales using rhyme, puppets, music and dance

Some performances are accompanied by interactive workshops in which children have the opportunity to carry out practical work on the information from the performance.

In addition to our rolling programme of events at the Museum In The Park we have also worked with the museum on an intergenerational project looking at life during wartime and food rationing.

Thistledown Environment Centre and St. Augustines Farm

Both these venues have hosted outside performances of Dark Tales of Gloucestershire. If you are interested in hosting a performance please contact us for further details.

Wallace Collection

In June our popular characters Moll Cutpurse, the cross dressing thief and Robert Dudley, Queen Elizabeth's favourites return to the Wallace Collection for special schools performances

Video Production

Spaniel in the Works educational "trigger " video "Don't Get Me Wrong" contains 6 short scenes which explore different aspects of relationships was launched by SWAAY at the NOTA conference.

We can create videos on a range of subjects for organisations using our skills as writers, actors and technicians.
