NOTHING CHANGES
2014 sees the anniversary of the publication of Robert Tressell’s now classic radical book “The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists”. The story of a group of painters, and other trades and their families trying to survive raises issues about the working classes and the disenfranchised. It offers debate around work, trades, surviving in an unfair system and the need for true Socialism.

John Bassett's play "Nothing Changes"  brings the book into the 21st century - “austerity times” - where the need for a living wage, immigration, press influence and the lack of understanding from those in power towards those with no power are major issues.

The play features songs by artists such as The The, The Housemartins and  Stiff Little Fingers, focusing on the inequalities which still exist in society 100 years after Tressell's book was published - "Nothing Changes!"
